Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH)

What We Do

According to the UN data, one-third of the world population does not have safe drinking water, while two-fifths do not have a primary hand-washing facility with soap and water. More than 673 million people still practice open defecation. While substantial global efforts have increased access to clean drinking water and sanitation, billions of people—mostly in rural areas—still lack in accessing these essential services.

AAN’s Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) team works in multiple countries to evaluate water and sanitation programmes, services and basic hygiene practices. Over the years, AAN has participated in and contributed to fifteen WASH-related projects globally, focusing on evaluation and strategy development.
