Key tasks and responsibilities

  1. To support the Head of Projects Management Unit (HoPMU) in the preparation of Project Planning Toolkit (Work plan; Resource Plan; and Financials-Accounts receivables/payables) for each awarded evaluation.
  2. To provide support to the HoPMU to insert data (i.e., phases; steps within each phase; and their respective activities, along with their timelines and responsible individuals) in the PMO tool (e.g., Asana, etc.), gather information via coordinating with the project delivery teams (PDTs); followed by day-2-day management of its data commented by these PDTs.
  3. Support the HoPMU in the PMU activities’ briefing sessions to the Managing Director (MD).
  4. Assist the HoPMU in the recruitment of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), National Consultants (NCs) and National Partners (NPs) for each awarded evaluation via preparation of ToRs/JDs, conducting comparative analysis and their value-for-money.
  5. Support the HoPMU with the compilation of projects’ data and its organisation for its Knowledge Management Portal.
  6. Any other relevant task assigned by the HoPMU.

Requirements:

  1. University education, Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in project management.
  2. A minimum of 3-4 years of professional experience in the social development sectors or any other relevant experience with at least 3 years of cumulative experience in handling Project Management Tools such as ASANA, Primavera, MS Projects etc
  3. Experience and/or academic training in managing project management tools.
  4. Proven ability to adapt to evolving tasks related to the responsible role
  5. Strong writing skills, and experience in preparing status updates.

Preferred Skills:

  1. Excellent analytical, oral, and written communication skills in English.
  2. Ability to deliver outcomes in timely manner.
  3. Proven ability to multitask and work under tight deadlines.

Key tasks and responsibilities

  1. Support/guide Project Teams (PTs comprising Managers, Officers, Associates, Sector Expert and PMO team) to review the research/evaluation TORs; evaluation proposals (for which contracts are awarded) to help achieve common understanding around consulting expectations; and explain AAN’s internal processes and systems for projects delivery;
  2. Together with PMO team, guide/review the PTs put together evaluation work plans; resource plans; and budgets, route through Director/Head of Department (D/HoD) PMU, and present to COO/MD for final approval;
  3. Together with PMO team, guide PTs to initiate kick-off meeting/s and participate (where required) with the clients and where required seek clarifications around evaluation expectations and management:
  4. Guide and moderate session/s with PTs to understand evaluation objectives and questions (as listed in the TORs/Proposals) as to enable PTs to develop first cut of Evaluation Matrix (EM), share constructive feedback and enable finalization to be able to share with the client;
  5. Enable and train PTs to produce Draft/Final Inception Report/s (including reporting templates and assessment tools such as GEROS); Evaluation Tools; Analysis Plans; Field Staff Training Package; and critically review and improve the draft and final products;
  6. Guide/support PT to understand and then assemble the documentation for ethical approval application/s, help with submission and addressing feedback;
  7. Enable PTs to run field training and where required facilitate/moderate sessions;
  8. Guide and train PTs to understand and implement AAN’s quality assurance protocols (data quality checks) for field data collection, consolidation and transfer to AAN;
  9. Guide and train PTs on data analysis and assembly into ‘Findings Matrix’ ; organize internal review session; enable improvements and then prepare team (and where appropriate participate with PMO team) for client presentation/briefing and validation sessions;
  10. Guide and enable PTs to produce draft/final Evaluation Report (ERs) and other end products such as policy briefs, final Ppt, and review critically, edit/improve and share thoughts on improving the report before processing for internal review and clients’ review/approval;
  11. Work together with PTs/PMO on assignment closure documentation including lessons learnt and share ideas with PMO team for improving AAN’s evaluation management practices and tools (EPM, EPM Training Package, and others);
  12. Support PMO in setting templates, standards and other documentation for consistent and quality delivery of projects in future

Requirements:

  1. Masters’ degree from a reputable university, preferably from International recognized institutes.
  2. At least Ten (10) years with 6 years of relevant/similar work experience, preferably in evaluations of social/development sector initiatives.
  3. Prior knowledge of quality assurance mechanisms for evaluations applied by UN agencies.

Key tasks and responsibilities

  1. Assist the manager PMU, and where required work independently, in undertaking project delivery tasks such as an exhaustive literature review of the project documents and other web-based information sources, contributing in formulating research design, methodology and tools for both qualitative and quantitative research, preparing work plans, participate in field data collection, developing and applying quality control procedures, monitor/supervise data management processes (data entry, cleaning, editing, coding, preparing data sets), analysis, reporting and closure) or other research-based tasks as and when assigned by the manager PMU.
  2. Assist/lead in coordination and communication with associates/partners, consultants and field data collection teams; and undertake negotiations with partner, consultants, field data collection teams as and when required basis;
  3. Maintain project/s folder/s on electronic central data repository, keep it up to date with all the relevant documents either being sent by UNICEF or internally produced;
  4. Communicate with project teams on daily basis and undertake any other tasks assigned by designated team leader;
  5. Be cognizant of, and maintain all documents related with UN standards, norms, ethics and quality assurance measures that apply to AAN’s work;
  6. Focuses on capacity building of the team as well as his/her own on continuous basis;
  7. Liaises with the admin and finance staff to ensure items required for/during field visits are available on time;
  8. Keeps liaison with admin/finance section to update the project budget, project folder (with Consultants’ contract, invoices, time sheets or other administrative documents related with PMU), project progress and planned future activities;
  9. Adhere and comply with AAN’s rules and regulations in all aspects as well as AAN’s quality standards for delivering projects;
  10. Strictly observe and maintain the confidentiality of all the information/documents of the organization.
  11. Perform any other task assigned by the manager PMU and the Managing Director AAN.

Requirements:

  1. Master’s degree preferably social sciences from a reputable and recognized university.
  2. Minimum three (3) years’ experience, in research and project coordination.
  3. Strong communication skills (verbal and written) in English
  4. Knowledge and experience about data analysis (Qualitative and Quantitative).
  5. Basic understanding/ background in; Health and Hygiene or Education or WASH would be an added advantage

Key Tasks & Responsibilities

  1. Anchor the evaluation execution following the contract signing to close-out by taking lead at each step (i.e., planning and initiation, research design, literature review, kick-off, inception, field planning, data collection, data processing/management, analysis, reporting, dissemination, and knowledge documentation) of the project/evaluation.
  2. For the assigned evaluation, coordinate with AAN’s Programs Management Unit (PMU) staff in planning and documentation of the ‘Project Inception Phase’. This may entail team-based discussions to plan and document detailed project delivery plan (i.e., work plan with clearly stated deliverables; budget; resource costing and recruitment plan, including scope of work including deliverables and quality standards for any consultants and sub-contractors), and identify any support required from AAN’s Operations Unit.
  3. Provide technical leadership to capture and communicate evaluation results, as well as ensure high-quality, timely, valid, and verifiable data collection, reporting and analysis.
  4. Interact with the client and AAN’s Core Project Delivery Team (CPDT) to design the evaluation and develop or refine Scope of Work (SoW) in accordance with the organizational policy, its operational guidelines, and standards.
  5. Prepare and oversee implementation of field plans for quantitative and qualitative data collection. The plans must include processes/mechanisms and guidelines for quality assurance and compliance to the client’s standards and requirements; any possible risk and their mitigation strategies, or necessary corrective actions/ crisis management (whenever required).
  6. Handle and manage recruitment, deployment and overseeing the work of local project teams, consultants, and partners; and provide technical input pertaining to their contracts management.
  7. Perform internal quality assurance function for delivery of products/deliverables.
  8. Oversee and report on implementation of work plan and planned activities.
  9. Support and in some cases lead in the development of reports and deliverables pertaining to the assigned evaluation as per AAN’s quality standards and client’s requirements
  10. Lead documentation and record management and produce a concise Project Closure Report (PCR).

Requirements

  1. Master’s degree in social sciences, from a reputable National/International University.
  2. The candidate must bring at least 5-8 years of experience in managing projects, relevant to monitoring, evaluations and research in the development sector.
  3. Background in planning and managing multi-sectoral research, design and implementation of M&E systems, and leading independent assessments
  4. Good communications (written and verbal) and client management skills.
  5. Understanding/background in any of the following thematic areas will be an added advantage:
  • Health and Hygiene
  • Education (focusing on out of school children)
  • WASH
